Brits regret ''careless spending'' 29 September 2009

Debt management plan users may be among the high proportion of Brits who regret being care free with their cash.

According to recent research, more than a third of UK citizens wish they had been more careful with regards to their spending.

The Simplyhealth Bothered Britain Report examined how the past 12 months have affected people''s attitudes and stress-levels towards their finances and health.

It found 36 per cent wish they had been more responsible with money, while 27 per cent feel they could have taken better care of themselves.

A fifth (20 per cent) said they could have spent more time with their family and 19 per cent said they should have invested in dental care.

"The recession has made people re-evaluate their priorities in life and what is important to them," explained Simplyhealth spokesperson Raman Sankaran.

He hinted the money worries could be down to feelings of insecurity surrounding many people''s jobs.

Financial woes may not have been eased by mortgage lenders, who Click and Go Mortgages claim are failing to pass on low borrowing rates to customers.
