Brits are still wary of using the internet to help with their debt management plans, it has been claimed.
According to Prevx, there is a stigma attached to online banking, with some believing it is insecure.
Director of malware research at the company Jacques Erasmus explained the technology offers "convenience and ease-of-use", stating consumers should consider it a viable option - so long as they protect themselves.
He said it is important to have the right safety protocol in place on any computer being used for online banking.
"This is because there are new threats emerging every day that traditional products won''t always immediately catch," Mr Erasmus asserted.
His comments come after a Mintel report showed the expansion of online banking has "fundamentally" altered the sector.
It noted the technology has provided opportunities and challenges for the financial industry over the last ten years.
Aside from lenders'' websites, there are also a number of resources for finding information on unsecured loans, credit cards and debt management plans.
